The exhibition Nurturing Space was an invitation to reflect on the concept and identity of our surrounding space(s). The exposition played with the relationship between a building and a body. Site specific Building Piercings were presented, underlining the concept that a building can be seen as a living body with its own - ever changing - identity. Buildings conceived as living entities can as such be adorned with jewelry or talismans and need to be cared for and kept in shape.
The exposition also communicated Studio Janet Vollebregt philosophy that all spaces or environments we live in should be nurturing, The first space we grow and live in, our mother’s womb, is a nurturing space. The studios mission is to create nurturing spheres for the life that takes places after birth and before death. The exposition space itself was treated as a space that welcomed its visitors to be nurtured. Visitors could lay down under a chakra harmonizing pendant installation or stand in front of totems directed at ‘tuning in’ to the harmonious vibrations of the crystals and mineral stones selected to touch certain areas of the body.
Art.Chi.Textures, mixed media panels with crystal quartz, wood and organic naturally dyed cotton were presented with the intention to radiate harmonious vibrations towards both the space and its visitors.
