Installation love hurts at leiden art hub

The Installation Love Hurts consists of two wall totems in brass and rose quartz. The totems are symbols of love and protection. At the same time, they are spears with slices of rose quartz ‘meat’. The works invite us to question what we take from the earth. What nurtures us can imply a sacrifice elsewhere. Are we conscious of that? Should we consume or not? Are we giving something back to the earth?

Each visit, three people are invited to sit on seats made of trees that were found dead in the savanna of Chapada dos Veadeiros, Brazil, and meditate on or discuss what nurtures us and what sacrifices we experience as justified.
