Tune-in Portal I
2022
The installation is a reference to Torii, an element of Shintoism, a Japanese religion that is based on the understanding of nature as God. Torii is a portal that symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred world. It is also used to look at nature itself. In a Shinto sanctuary, it is common to find this sort of structure at the entrance or inside.
The public is invited to cross the water pond stepping on the concrete supports until reaching the portal. Once under the portal, the stick attached to the structure can be used to play the suspended tuning fork. A sound, a vibration of 256Hz will be emitted. This frequency calms the nervous system, providing relaxation, relief and balance.
