Winner Open Call ‘Habitable spaces’ Dutch Embassy in Brasília

Solo exhibition ‘Esférica’/Nurturing Spheres won the open call by the Dutch Embassy in Brasil on the subject of ‘Habitable Spaces’. As the exhibition focuses on the question how to make our environment more nurturing for people and planet, it was the perfect match with the theme of this open call. The support of the embassy has been crucial in realizing both the exhibition and the opening.

Exhibition ‘Circular na Praça’ SãO Paulo

For the fifth edition of the group exhibition ‘Circular na Praça’, initiated by Farah Service, on Praça Adolpho Bloch, a park in the hart of São Paulo, Brazil, curator Marc Pottier invited artists to re-interpret Neo Concretism.

Acompanied by Kura Arte in Sao Paulo, Janet Vollebregt created the installation ‘Tree Talismans’ for this exhibition.

Installation love hurts at leiden art hub

The Installation Love Hurts consists of two wall totems in brass and rose quartz. The totems are symbols of love and protection. At the same time, they are spears with slices of rose quartz ‘meat’. The works invite us to question what we take from the earth. What nurtures us can imply a sacrifice elsewhere. Are we conscious of that? Should we consume or not? Are we giving something back to the earth?

Work for Thermen Museum Heerlen

With material that was saved during the restauration of the old roman bath house, I created 4 panels that individually can be seen as abstract artworks and can be exposed in any position. Only when the 4 panels, are placed together in the right position, together they form the image of Lucius, the Roman potter whose work was found at the location of the Thermen Museum. The necessity of placing the ‘pieces’ of the artwork together in a certain way to see the larger picture refers to the work of the archeologists on site.
